Santa's looking a little thin...Runik Games Newsletter: December 2007

Season's greetings...

...and happy Hogswatch! In this issue you'll find details of our Christmas opening times, the usual updates (just glance over to the left), and some advance information about Suffolk's premier gaming event, Ludicrus, coming to a battleground near you on 27th and 28th September 2008.

Now read on... Smile

Prize Draw

Duel DecksThe winner in last month's free prize draw was Jon Halls, who gets the D&D Miniatures booster This month's prize is a pair of Magic the Gathering Elves vs. Goblins Duel Decks. Just click here to enter...

The pack includes two 60-card decks, ready to play, three creature tokens, and a strategy insert that should have you up and gaming pretty much straight away.

And the decks themselves include the pick of the elf and goblin cards from the last six years of Magic, from Apocalypse through Lorwyn. The idea is to give you as much tribal fun as possible while cutting setup time to an absolute minimum.

The decks feature eight rare cards and two exclusive promo alternate art cards. Cards include Siege-Gang Commander (with all-new alternate art), Ambush Commander (with all-new alternate art), Voice of the Woods, Goblin Warchief, Mogg Fanatic, Wirewood Symbiote, Heedless One, and Clickslither. Read more on the Wizards website.

Friday Night Magic and WoW Battlegrounds

This month for Friday Night Magic the promo card is a foil Force Spike (with the original artwork) which looks fantastic! We're giving away four of them every night - one for the tournament winner, one for second place and two random door prizes (so you're in with a good chance even if your gaming skills could use a little work...!) A full listing of the next month's tournaments can be found on our website - or simply by clicking here...

World of Warcraft Battlegrounds is running every Friday night at the club alongside FNM. Each week there'll be a World of Warcraft tournament where players will win extended art promos plus boosters. And, as in the Magic, there'll be random door prizes as well!

Warmachine...

...has taken off in a big way with the tournament at Bury Wargamers on 24th November! The Mangled Metal tournament was won by John Snape who travelled up from London to battle against 11 other players. He walked away with £45 worth of Warmachine and Hordes prizes from Runik Games!

If you'd like a free demo of Warmachine pop into the shop during the week, come along to Friday Night Magic or visit the Bury Wargamers' website for full details of their next meeting.

The Nozzas!

This week sees the Runik Games Gaming Awards for 2007, otherwise known as The Nozzas, at the Friday night club on 14th December. Entry is free, there'll be the usual free Christmas Magic quiz after the awards, and you can also look forward to lots of board games and demos for Warmachine. Come along, play some games, bring Symon and Reuben some mince pies and maybe pick up an award!

Please note that bringing Symon and Reuben mince pies doesn't necessarily entitle you to an award! Smile...

Ludi - the Ludicrus Events logoThe date is set. The venue's set. And Suffolk's premier Game Convention is on track for another successful year!

This time it'll be even bigger and even better, with tournaments, demos, and a trade hall. Our new venue - the Kesgrave War Memorial Community Centre - is really easy to get to, we're cutting entrance prices to give you even better value, and there'll be plenty of advertising in the press and on the radio to ensure a high turnout.

The rest, of course is up to you, so please be sure to mark September 27th and 28th very clearly in your diary - and keep them free for a truly amazing event.

To get the full lowdown, be sure to pay a visit to the new website at www.ludicrus.co.uk - where you'll also find forums, games and news to keep you occupied until next September...

Congratulations...

...to Daniel Gardner, taking the top place in our rankings once again this month! Go here to see the full rankings, and go here to see a list of the tournaments we're running over the next few weeks.

That's it for this month - except, of course to wish you a very happy Christmas and a truly epoch-making New Year - but do let us know what you think of the newsletter, and what you'd like to see in the next issue.
