10k Corporate Challenge!

New Chapter : New Additions

We are pleased to announce the continued expansion of the New Chapter team with following additions:

Gareth Philpott has joined our Operations team. Gareth’s background is in FMCG, and he will be focussing on our manufacturing, engineering, production and operation customers.

Ashley Fitzgerald has joined our sales team, from a background in career management. Ashley will be specialising in fresh produce and convenience food customers.

Tom Lambert is another new addition to our sales team. With a background in direct marketing, Tom will be focussing on our delivered wholesale customers.

Sara Tomley is now developing our Retail sector. Sara comes from a selection purchasing background, as well as having studied Retail Marketing Management. She will be focussing on buying and merchandising customers.

We would also like to welcome Sarah Mirfield to the admin team, in the role of Sales Support Administrator.

The Interview – how to handle weird questions…

There are certain questions we have all come to expect during a job interview; “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” springs to mind. However with recent reports that there are on average 70 candidates for each UK graduate job, more and more hiring managers are resorting to desperate measures in an effort to narrow the field.

Off the wall ‘curveball’ interview questions have seen a surge in popularity, even within huge corporations.

Take these examples:

  • “How many basketballs can you fit in this room?” (Reportedly asked at Google)
  • “If you were shrunk to the size of a pencil and put in a blender, how would you get out?” (Reportedly asked at Goldman Sachs)
  • “How do you weigh an elephant without using a weigh machine?” -  Reportedly asked at IBM
  •  “If you could be any superhero, who would it be?” –  Reportedly asked at  AT&T
