The changing face of recruitment

Recruitment is changing.

It can’t have escaped your notice that there’s been a vast increase in the number of applicants per job these days. With so few opportunities about, the number of candidates chasing each opening has jumped significantly.

This has led to extra pressure on recruiters to sift through the pile of applicants to identify those qualified and suitable for the role.

As this is an expensive and time consuming process, recruiters are discovering there is another way.

The return of the head-hunters

Remember the ‘80s?

That was the decade that had us wondering who shot JR, cheering when Charles and Diana got married and saw the introduction of stonewashed jeans. It was also a time when head-hunting was rife.

Well, those days have returned (minus the stonewashed jeans) with the emergence of sites such as LinkedIn.

The ability to add your profile, work experience and skills on the internet has brought the emergence of a growing trend - Social Resourcing (recruitment using social networking sites).

Now, whether you are actively searching for work or not, you can be approached about new career opportunities simply by having your skills, experience and qualifications searchable online.

@Work recognises a multi-faceted approach is crucial to job search today, and employ head-hunting as part of their search strategy. By using these ‘new’ channels we can find candidates with the specific skills you need before your competitors do. The result is a more target approach, producing candidates who are qualified and equipped to fulfil your vacancy.

How about a bit of Hospitality@Work?

Please be upstanding for… Clare Friel

That’s right, the @Work family is growing! We are delighted to introduce Clare Friel to our team.

“@Work recruitment has been a company on the top of my employer wish list since it first opened” said Clare. “I have worked in recruitment in the past, but most recently I worked in the welfare to work sector. This has given me time to build up a strong knowledge of the local labour market, and allowed me to see what clients truly want from their candidates. I am not your bulk standard recruitment consultant, but thankfully @Work isn’t your bulk standard agency! I have big plans for the temps division and am delighted that I will now be growing along with @Work! Michelle has christened me her tiger, and I am determined to live up to my nickname. I will be prowling around the streets of Suffolk looking for new opportunities, and going about it in a very unique way (although I will not be wearing a tiger costume!!). So watch this space.”
